Subic-Clark Alliance for Development Council (SCAD), headed by Executive Director Atty. Carminda Z. Fabros hosted the “Strengthening Local Tourism in the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Corridor” forum on February 15, 2023, at the Best Western Plus Metro Clark Hotel. The event was attended by Business Permit and Licensing Officers (BPLO) and Tourism Officers of freeport zones and local government units in the Corridor.

The one-day activity aimed to strengthen the current set-up of local tourism in the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Corridor and develop actionable plans to improve tourism in the region.

During the morning session, SCAD Director for Policy, Plans, and Programs Jerico Namoro, EnP., discussed the establishment of the Subic-Clark Alliance for Development (SCAD) and its vision of creating a world-class mega-logistics hub through the development of the Subic-Clark Corridor. The newly appointed Regional Director of the Department of Tourism – Region III, Dr. Richard G. Daenos, also provided an overview of the Central Luzon Tourism and Policy Thrust for 2023, which focuses on the seven-point agenda of the department.

Representatives from the Provincial Governments of Tarlac, Bataan, and Zambales also shared the salient points of their tourism development plans, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to further boost tourism in the region.
In the afternoon, Dr. Ivan Henares, Director of the Division of Tourism Research and Extension Services of the Asian Institute of Tourism – University of the Philippines, Diliman, facilitated a workshop and action planning to consolidate the initiatives and push for more collaborative measures in the region’s tourism industry.

Overall, the forum was successful, providing a venue for various stakeholders to come together and discuss ways to strengthen local tourism and boost the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Corridor’s economic potential.
